PHOTOGRAPHER - BELGIUM
Stephane Noel is a Belgian photographer. In his work, Stephane is gloriously old-school, dedicating his professional efforts to explore the gum bichromate printing process, a 19th century technique.
Stephane approaches his work as a personal quest to explore and enjoy people and cultures. The camera becomes his passport to open doors and create opportunities to exchange ideas and communicate with openess and respect.
Also central to Stephane's artistic practice is his strong desire to share his technical knowledge, to put his expertice into the service of others. He wants his work to serve as a visible, material bridge between technology and emotion.
After many years of trial and error with the gum bichromatic process, his works now bring him a sense of satisfaction. He confidently knows that the countless hours of experimenting and strict adherence to old-school handcraft methods are now revealing a new vibrance and warmth in his photographs. He can now share with us more of the emotion he feels when taking these portraits.
The photos also give us a glimpse into the emotion he shares with the friends he makes along his journey in life.
